Claim Efficacy

Skin Lightening and Toning

While Asia is obsessed with skin whitening, efficacy studies on popular whitening actives are often found to be inconclusive, which poses consumer safety concerns.

We offer methodologies from in vitro cell based assays to in vivo human clinical tests in assessing the product’s ability to inhibit or promote melanogenesis, suited to substantiate your skin lightening or toning claims. We also provide in vitro human organoid system testing to evaluate the safety usage and potential influence of whitening actives or treatments.

Anti-aging

Aging is often associated with skin changes related to reduced elasticity, and the loss of dermal-cell network linked to decreased collagen production and degradation.

We offer various methodologies from in vitro cell based assay to in vivo studies. They range from skin barrier studies, gene and/or protein expression quantification of anti-aging related proteins such as collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and squalene, to clinical assessment of human volunteers (Asian origin and age-group specific) using specialised equipment.

Anti-oxidation

Antioxidants are widely used as vitamins in dietary supplements and as a food addictive to preserve food quality. In the same way, consumer’s demand for multi-functional cosmetic products have driven the incorporation of  antioxidants into formulations, which are also known to reduce pigmentation and offer anti-aging properties.

As such, we offer quantitative analyses such as anti-oxidation pathway-related gene expression study and intracellular and/or extracellular oxidative stress level study using DCF Assay.

Anti-inflammation

Inflammatory skin diseases are one of the common topics in current dermatology studies. There are various endogenous and exogenous factors that may induce skin inflammation. They act by targeting the main epidermal cells such as keratinocytes, which play an important role in eliciting an active immune response through the formation of a physical barrier for the skin by secreting cytokines.

We provide anti-inflammation assessment through the expression profile study of inflammatory related cytokines and genes by means of in vitro and/or ex vivo explant assay.

Environmental Influence

Environmental influence such as ultraviolet ray and poor air quality can have a detrimental effect on our skin. These have been a major health risk in the Asia Pacific region, and companies have since seized the opportunity to develop products that provide anti-pollution benefits.

We provide tailorable services to substantiate your product claims such as in vitro assessment of Nrf2 anti-oxidation pathway and skin health assessment via in vivo human clinical testing in Asia.

SPF & UV Protection

Solar ultraviolet ray exposure is one of the main contributors in accelerating aging and age-related changes. Therefore, sunscreen products play an important role in this aspect, as determined by its Sun Protection Factor (SPF). However, SPF is only a measure of protection against UVB radiation.

Herein, we provide both in vitro and in vivo testing for SPF and UVA-PF to assess the efficacy of UV-protecting products. UVA-PF stands for UVA protection factor, a measure of how much UVA protection is offered by a sunscreen product.
